Pie contest deadlines and entry rules, taken from the organisers' own pages
Each pie contest sets its own deadline: Pam's Pie Competition takes online registration through October 2, 2026. The Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival wants its Apple Pie Baking Contest registrations postmarked by October 2, and Topsfield Fair's Apple Pie Contest needs a pre-entry form received by October 7, 2026. The Commons holds its PIE FEST on November 8, 2026.

Upcoming pie contests and how each one takes entries
Pam's Pie Competition, run by Art on the Avenue, accepts online registration through October 2, 2026, and its page adds that in-person registration is also available. The Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival sets the same date as a postmark deadline for Apple Pie Baking Contest registrations. Topsfield Fair's Apple Pie Contest works differently again: a pre-entry form is required and has to be received by October 7, 2026.
Two dated pages say less than the calendar suggests. Pleasantville Farmers Market lists Saturday, October 3, 2026 for its next Apple Pie Contest and carries no current entry instructions, so the listing gives a day and leaves entry open. Hilton Apple Fest holds its 44th festival on October 3 and 4, 2026 and lists an Apple Pie Contest Application among its 2026 documents, which makes the application the document to read.
The Association of Connecticut Fairs accepts its state baking-contest entries on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning at the Durham Community Center, a two-hour window. The Commons' PIE FEST on November 8, 2026 asks each participating baker to create two pies, one for judging and one for auction.
Seven dates in the table mark seven different things, so a date is usable only once the organiser's wording says which one it is.
Where contests are listed: organiser sites and listing services
Cooking Contest Central (CCC) calls itself a resource for cooking and recipe contest enthusiasts, and says its members get curated contest listings, deadline alerts, exclusive opportunities, winning recipes and resources. A listing service of that kind is a convenience for finding upcoming contests. The date and the entry route still come from the organiser's own site, because a listing is a copy made on one day.
Near me becomes concrete only when an organiser's page names a place. The Association of Connecticut Fairs names the Durham Community Center for its October 24, 2026 entries, and the Adair County cookie baking rules name the 4-H/FFA Building at the Adair County Fair Grounds for judging. The place a page names is the place its rules apply to.
Online is a route with its own terms. Pam's Pie Competition takes online registration and in-person registration side by side, while the Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge accepts online entry only and states that no other method of entry will be accepted.
A listing that shows no sign of an organiser, a date or an entry route deserves doubt. Every contest in the table names its organiser and a date on its own page, which is what an entrant can check before sending anything.
BBQ competition rules: cooking on site, turn-in windows, judging
MWBA BBQ requires a cooks meeting before competition day, uses a 10-minute turn-in window and scores entries through double blind judging by trained judges. A BBQ challenge rule book from another organiser gives teams a 15-minute window to turn in a container to be judged, requires all meat to be cooked on site and disqualifies any pre-cooked entries brought into the area.
That rule book also calls its contest non-sanctioned, held to promote a recreational challenge for amateur and semi-pro teams. Disqualification is written plainly there, and it attaches to food that arrives already cooked.
CBBQA's rule 3.1.3 adds a territory: the contest and every integral component of the contest must occur within the state borders of California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon and/or Mexicali, Mexico. That places a BBQ competition Arizona hosts inside the rule and a BBQ competition DC organisers run outside it, as it does one in Houston or London.
Voting is a separate mechanism from judging. MWBA BBQ describes trained judges working under a fair and consistent scoring system, and The Commons speaks of judging for one of its two pies; a contest that adds public voting says so in its own rules.
Five clauses that shape a cooking contest
Cooking contest mechanics come down to five clauses: how an entry is made, how many entries one person can make, when the entry is due, where the food is cooked and how it is judged. The Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge settles the first two in three short sentences: online entry only, no other method accepted, one entry per person.
Where the food is cooked separates the rule sets quickly. The Adair County cookie baking rules have cookies baked on site, the BBQ challenge rule book requires all meat to be cooked on site, and The Commons says only that each participating baker creates two pies. A baker who reads only the deadline misses the clause that decides what to carry in.
Scoring is the fifth clause. Whether presentation counts alongside taste is a line a scoring rule has to state, and MWBA BBQ is the example here of a rule that names its judges and its system.
Baking contests: on-site kitchens, time limits and awards
Adair County's cookie baking rules assign each contestant a time slot at a kitchen station and have contestants work independently under the supervision of Extension staff. Participants must wash their hands before starting and throughout the process, any time their hands become contaminated, or when they switch tasks. A 2025 Adair County document allots one hour to complete the recipe from start to finish, mixing and baking included.
The National Orange Show Event Center's baking contest flyer for 2023 carries the requirement, the deadline and the result date. Entries had to include a citrus product and be homemade, were due by April 10, 2023, and the winners were announced on April 19, 2023, nine days after the deadline. Baking contest awards are stated as places, and that contest awards first, second and third place.
The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf baking contest was scheduled for September 27, 2025 with a submission deadline of September 1, 2025, so entries closed 26 days before the event.
Cookie contests and the deadlines they print
The Adair County cookie baking contest requires completed entries in Fair Entry by June 17 to participate; its rules have the cookies baked on site and judged on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the 4-H/FFA Building at the Adair County Fair Grounds. The Page After Page cookie contest set its entry deadline for Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Page After Page awarded a prize to first place in each of three age categories. Whether a cookie contest trophy, a ribbon or a prize goes to the winner is a line in the rules, and the age categories decide whom a baker competes against.
Adair County closes entries on June 17 and judges ten days later, on June 27, 2026; the Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge takes online entries, one per person.
Recipe contests and the paperwork behind a recipe
The Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge asks for more than a cookie. Entrants provide an essay of no more than 250 words telling a personal story about the recipe and what makes the cookie the prize-winning cookie, and they provide the complete step-by-step preparation, baking and cooling instructions for the recipe.
Length limits and named stages make a recipe checkable: 250 words for the essay, and preparation, baking and cooling as three stages the instructions have to cover.
Broadcast competitions and how they differ from contests with entry forms
Food Network's Pitmasters premiered on Monday, July 13 as a nonstop BBQ cooking competition that pits teams of pitmasters against each other, and its premiere gives teams nine hours for the first Big Burn challenge. The Ultimate Baking Championship premiered on March 9 with 16 pastry chefs and tests laminated doughs, choux pastry, chocolate work, sugar artistry, intricate cakes and precision-plated desserts.
Netflix's Blue Ribbon Baking Championship is a 2024 reality TV baking showdown with 8 episodes, featuring blue ribbon-winning bakers from state fairs across the US, which connects it to the fair contests dated above.
A broadcast competition seats a set cast: 16 pastry chefs at the Ultimate Baking Championship and teams of pitmasters at Pitmasters. The contests with entry forms above work the other way round: the organiser publishes a deadline and the entrant meets it.

Step by step
-
A date and what it marks
Every date on an organiser's page marks something. Pam's Pie Competition and the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival both use October 2, 2026, one for online registration and one as a postmark deadline, and Pleasantville Farmers Market lists October 3, 2026 as a contest day only.
-
Registration, postmark or pre-entry form
The route decides what has to exist by the deadline: an online registration at Pam's Pie Competition, a postmarked registration at the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival, a pre-entry form received at Topsfield Fair, an application listed at Hilton Apple Fest.
-
How many pies, and where they are made
The Commons asks each participating baker to create two pies, one for judging and one for auction, while the Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge limits each person to one entry. Where a contest bakes on site, as Adair County does, the food is made at the venue.
-
Paperwork attached to the recipe
The Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge asks for an essay of no more than 250 words and complete step-by-step preparation, baking and cooling instructions, so the recipe travels with the entry as a document.
-
Judging method and awards
MWBA BBQ scores entries through double blind judging by trained judges, The Commons speaks of judging, and the National Orange Show Event Center baking contest awards first, second and third place. The scoring and award lines sit in the rules.
Questions
Can I enter multiple pies?
Multiple pies depend on the contest's own limit. The Commons' PIE FEST asks every participating baker for two pies, one for judging and one for auction, while the Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge limits each person to one entry. A pie contest that states no limit leaves the question with its organiser.
I missed the deadline. Can I still enter my pie?
A missed deadline is the organiser's call, and the written wording is strict. The Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival requires registrations postmarked by October 2, 2026, Topsfield Fair requires a pre-entry form received by October 7, 2026, and Pleasantville Farmers Market's page answers a missed contest with the date of the next one.
What should I bring on the day of the pie contest?
The organiser's instructions decide what to bring, and where the food is made changes the answer. The Commons asks each participating baker to create two pies, one for judging and one for auction. The Adair County cookie baking rules have cookies baked on site at an assigned kitchen station, and a BBQ challenge rule book requires all meat to be cooked on site.
Where can I find a pie contest near me?
A pie contest near you is found on the organiser's own page, which names the date, the route and the place. Listing services copy those pages: CCC says its members get curated contest listings and deadline alerts, and the copy is only as current as the day it was made.
Are hand pies allowed?
Each contest's category rules decide whether hand pies are allowed, and this page does not report a hand-pie ruling for any contest it names. Pam's Pie Competition, Topsfield Fair's Apple Pie Contest and the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival's Apple Pie Baking Contest each publish their own entry terms, so the category line sits on the organiser's page.
What season is pie contest Regular Show?
Regular Show is a television title, so a season number belongs to the series' own episode guide, and no contest's rules answer it. This page covers contests with dated entry routes.

This site runs no pie contest named here, cannot enter anyone into one and has no say over a judge's score, a postmark rule or an organiser's deadline. The entry-fee question stays with each organiser's page, because nothing on this page states whether any of these contests charges an entry fee. No entry route described here brings a placing with it, and where a contest's rules ban paid votes, no service changes that.
A contest vote sits under two rulebooks, the platform's and the organiser's. On CuteBaby, voters get ten free daily votes that expire at midnight, and an account needs a South African mobile number. Organisers then enforce their own terms: Darley may disqualify and replace a potential winner who does not follow its rules, and the Queen's Commonwealth Writing Competition disqualifies over-length entries automatically. An order for contest votes changes none of that.
Contest voting has a rhythm of its own. The Arizona State Fair includes live audience voting on every qualifying night, and the Ernie Ball contest measures online activity throughout its contest period. A count that builds across the window, from separate voters, matches that rhythm. None of this is a method for passing an organiser's checks, and an organiser can still disqualify an entry it doubts.
In the United States, the FTC says a real sweepstakes is free and decided by chance, and that a skills contest can ask you to pay to play. Canada's Competition Bureau says a purchase requirement should be prominently disclosed. Those rules govern entry to a sweepstakes or promotion, and whether paying for votes in a contest is lawful where you live is a question for a lawyer. No order is taken for a sweepstakes or other chance draw, for a political ballot, or for a contest whose rules bar outside votes.
The part of an order that never reaches the contest's own count is refunded once the organiser's voting has closed. America's Favorite Pet calls its dates approximate and lets its operator extend deadlines, so that moment is the organiser's to set. A result, a disqualification and a voided vote are never refunded. At IODC, public votes and engagement do not by themselves decide the winners, and no refund changes how a contest weighs them.
